Operations at Busy Taxi Stands

Moving the Line, Moving Time

At a busy taxi stand, passengers, luggage, cars, and the release point must all be coordinated. A small change in where the head taxi stops can alter walking paths, loading interference, and how quickly a batch of cars clears the stand.

A taxi waiting area, passenger queue, and release manager establish the stand's operating scene. Passengers walk to their assigned vehicles, load their luggage outside, board, and leave across the stop line. A second run moves that line forward under the same demand and places a smaller comparison view beside the main one. The last act repeats many release cycles and compares average waits for passengers and drivers. The key insight is that taxi-stand capacity depends on physical boarding geometry as well as on how many taxis are waiting. The illustrated improvement comes from organizing the boarding process, not from adding more vehicles.
